I grew up with watching Turkish dub, which is pretty much Japanese uncensored version with Turkish dialog on it. And that last episode with Apocalymon clawing his own flesh and blood dripping down... Bruh... 6 year old me got really scared.

Nah, he is fine. Not the greatest leader, sure, but I always liked him. FREAKING TAGIRU ON THE OTHER HAND!!! That one has no saving graces, despite the setup for both of them as protagonists being so similar.

I liked him but man did he have an ego was annoying his crush on hikari was awful cringe he also had no worries and no dreams goals it seemed...

what do you think about the new movie? I personally was really disappointed with what they did with the series but I haven't heard anyone else talk about it

To be honest the older I got the less I cared about and saw the problems with 02. I just don't really enjoy the cast that much outside of TK, Kari, Ken, and the villains. I feel villains is more where 02 ended up shining and doing its best work. Digimon Kaiser/Emperor, Arukenimon and Mummymon, Oikawa, Blackwargreymon to some degree. I'd say they're more memorable than the first series villains outside of well Vamdemon/Miyotismon of course who ended up in the series anyways. Don't really care for the 02 trio or their partners....though to be fair the original had a partner problem too outside a few. I feel Davis coulda worked better with Veemon if he wasn't just a Davis clone. Davis has a really hard time I feel standing on his own to be interesting and his philosophy and way of life needed better characters to bounce off of to really make his more simplistic personality shine more. Like that moment at the end of the series was great...we really needed more of that to happen in some smaller degree. Ken was the only one who kinda helped bring out the better parts of Davis before he eventually kinda slowly got less interesting over time on his own. I honestly think the reason the 02: The beginning happened the way it did because they really couldn't think of anything interesting to do with these characters, or perhaps just didn't care that much about them. It was like they lost complete interest and faith in them and instead focused completely on the new character which left the 02 cast barely anything to do but listen, react, and briefly fight. I still think that comment of this story could only be told with this cast was a load.

Daiskue/Davis was my favorite next to Takato. Much like Yuma in Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal I enjoyed that he's just a dummy that learns and improves, becoming his own character proper by the end of it all. The fact he's the first to extend the olive branch to Ken after he drops the Kaiser persona is my favorite bit of development because you would have expected from anyone else besides him and while everyone was still justified in that lack of trust his stubbornness payed off and they all eventually accepted Ken in the end.

I still remember how Azulongmon digging Davis in the 02 dub by saying "You're Davis, aren't you? Well, except for him, I wish all of you the best of luck."

If Ty had an appointed Davis as leader TK most definitely would’ve ended up as the leader with Kari has his second in command

7:32 I don't have a problem with UA-camr protagonists when it makes sense for the story themes/universe. Appmon uses it to explore people's reliance on modern technology and its consequences, so it makes perfect sense. It's only cringy when a franchise retools in order to include social media elements, like the most recent My Little Pony generation, where they are no longer in a magical fairytale world but instead a modern world where they are all obsessed with social media.

I couldn’t go watch the movie in theaters, but my friends did. They kept telling me how good it was and how it was sadder than Kizuna, so I was built up a lot of hype considering I think Kizuna is the best Digimon movie. When I finally got it on dvd, I watched it and was extremely disappointed

I don't hate Davis and I have never identified as him for me he was just kind of there.

I’m not involved in the digimon community but I didn’t think people hated Davis, I saw him as a kid that would realistically act in the digimon world.

I always hated the look of digimon Growing up in saudi arabia digimon is always seen not as “pokemon but bad” but as “just a nostalgia” without appreciation of the actual show and it themes The fact that digimon is “a kids show” even between those who adores nostalgic caroons “oh spacetoon is so great” I’m not saying spacetoon id bad by any means it’s the greatest TV channel i grew up watching But what hated the most not only are they belittling digimon for it’s greatness even for 02 they just use the opining for the original digimon with worst quality But through all of that i still got into digimon and to 02 AND my favourite character was still davis (probably because he wears flame jacket and have blue digimon but that besides the point) What i’m trying to say i can’t believe with all these hardships i still to this day adore devis for who he is (aaaaand the fact he have a flame jacket with a blue digimon…i refuse to grow up)

Sorry, but I'm not seeing it. The whole "Davis is a Tai wannabe" who then got over it and became his own person, I've never got that impression from the show itself. The problem with Davis is the he's a Naruto wannabe. He's thinks that's all he needs as a person is to be loud, brash and stubborn. The problem is that the writers of DA02 had the same idea and wrote the show accordingly while the writer of Naruto added more thing to his MC.

I dont really hare Davis. Now he's not my favorite protay by any means, that goes to the absolute bro that is Marcus Damon, but Davis is definitely a cool protagonist...in the sub. As a mostly dub watcher, watching 02 in dub really did not do the man's any favors what so ever, but i decided to give the sub a try after a while and thats when i actually started to appreciate his character more

There also is a big difference between the Saban versions and the non-Saban versions. The non-Saban versions are much less obnoxiously written.

Ngl adventure 2 was my favourite and Davis is my favourite Digimon protagonist, related to him so much.

Never hated Davis but I remember I had to warm up to him when I watch 02 for the very first time. But pretty soon within the first arc of the season, I definitely started liking him. Throughout the show I just liked him more and more. I love his personality and his drive is admirable. He is one of my favorite leaders in the franchise. I think Takato is a pretty neat protagonist as well. And thanks so much for The Legend of Korra mention!
